One Degree of Change Program
In response to the crisis of global warming and the resulting rising water temperatures and the shrinking of the global ice caps which are drastically endangering the world's wildlife, the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium has initiated a program called One Degree of Change.
A wallet-sized handout educates visitors about the basic science of climate change and provides examples of how they can make an impact on large-scale problems.
The idea behind One Degree of Change is that we live in an interconnected world, and even small actions by individuals add up to help change problems that may seem beyond their scope.
Zoo education and conservation programs have incorporated these ideas and are continuing to infuse them into every aspect of the Zoo's mission.
